US China Air Cargo May be Optimized by Using Sweden as Hub

Sweden – Destination ranking ex Sweden October 2005
Sweden may handle an increasing amount of in-transit air cargo volume between the US and China by serving as a consolidation hub. As can be seen by the data below, Sweden air cargo exports to US cities such as Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles reached over 15,000 tonnes between January and October 2005**. Chinese airlines handling US bound cargo may benefit by using Swedish airports such as Arlanda since they will be able to maximize their loads going to and from the US.

** CASS only covers roughly ~60% of the market. Destination ranking shifts from month/month. Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Dragonair, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air and China Airlines are not reporting volumes to CASS Scandinavia. This means obviously that the CASS data for China (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) is less reliable.
