Will manufacturing and sourcing move from China to Africa? | With the large economic needs of the African continent, and the rising costs of the countries and continents that previously qualified, Africa may be next. Perhaps it is not imminent, but certainly within your career. The large labor force available for low tech work may make this the next emerging global sourcing area. In a recent publication by the World Bank six countries in Africa ranked in the top 76 of the 150 global countries in the logistics performance index in regard to the reliability of the supply chain. South Africa (24), Tunisia (60), Guinea (62), Sudan (64) Mauritania (67) and Kenya (76) are ranked based on their performance in customs procedures, cost of logistics, infrastructure quality, ability to track and trace shipments and timeliness of reaching the final destination.
