DHL to Focus on Service in 2008

DHL will be working on improving their service in 2008 in hopes that it will drive market share.

The mix between cost reliability is a key factor in choosing a primary parcel carrier. DHL in 2008 will be working on improving its service levels for their customers. Improving the service may help them win market share, which was one of DHL’s primary goals in the past.

DHL will be changing its focus in 2008 from gaining market share to improving service. In the past DHL has focused on taking market share from both UPS and FedEx. Executive Vice President of operations for DHL Express, John Cameron stated that they want to focus on the 2 percent of shipments which are not being delivered on-time. DHL will be putting more emphasis on the call centers which are currently being run by DHL and are not planned to be outsourced.
