In the past year they have announced new manufacturing facilities around the world to help satisfy demand. Is your company’s global footprint correct? Lenovo is planning on opening a manufacturing plant and fulfillment center in Poland in the third quarter of 2008. The 30,000 square meter facility will be located in the Legnica Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The facility will cover Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The facility will be performing “product assembly and configuration, distribution services and logistics along with additional value added services, such as custom imaging, asset tagging and labeling.” The initial capacity of the plant will be over two million desktops per year. Lenovo’s manufacturing footprint will cover 4 continents and 5 countries. This year they have announced 4 new manufacturing facilities: Shanhai, China; Baddi, India; Monterrey, Mexico and Legnica SEZ. There will also be a fulfillment center located in North Carolina, US. The hope of improving Lenovo’s footprint is to “reduce costs, shorten customer delivery times and provide its customers in Europe with the value added services they need.” | | |
