UPS National Master Contract approved by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters

UPS employees have agreed to a contact with UPS through July 31, 2013

The National Master Contract was approved last week by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. With an approved contract there is no fear for a UPS strike during the contract year of 2008.

The contract covers 240,000 full-time and part-time employees. The current contract expires on July 31, 2008 and the newly agreed upon contract expires July 31, 2013.

The last UPS strike occurred in 1997. In 2002, when the threat of a strike loomed UPS lost volume. With the contract in place till 2013 UPS should not have the concern of volume loss due to a strike.
