West Coast Port in Mexico’s State Baja

Mexico is taking bids to build a $7 billion port and rail line in Baja to help relieve US west coast ports' congestion.

US west coast ports have continually been operating at peak capacity as container import volume continues to increase. Mexico has recognized the opportunity and is taking bids in the first quarter of 2008 to build a new west coast port and rail system in Baja to give an alternative to import from Asia.
