Dockworkers in Greece strike over privatization

Dockworkers are fighting privatization of the terminal.

Dockworkers at the port of Piraeus held a strike on Friday and plan on striking next Tuesday and Wednesday due to the Greek government looking into privatizing of the container terminal facilities. Piraeus is the larges port for commercial traffic in the Mediterranean and one of the 10 largest ports in Europe. The government looked into privatizing in 2006, but stopped the process due to riots. They hope that the bidding process will be completed by June.
