| January 30, 2008 | | China and Russia agree on the utilization and protection of trans-border waterways. | On Tuesday, China and Russia signed an agreement on “Reasonable Utilization and Protection of Trans-boundary Waters.” The agreement states “the two countries have entered a new phase of cooperation in water use and protection and will further promote Sino-Russian strategic partnership of coordination.” China and Russia share 3,500 kilometers of trans-border waterways which include Ergun, Heilongjiang and Wusuli rivers and Xingkai Lake. | | |
