Rotterdam second largest bunker port in the world

Rotterdam is the second larges bunker port, Singapore is the largest. This is due to the Sulfur Emission Control Area (SECA) in the North Sea.

Rotterdam is the second largest bunker port in the world, only Singapore is larger.  Since the North Sea because a Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA), low sulfur bunker sales have doubled. 

According to the article “2007 was a good bunker year for Rotterdam. Throughput was down slightly in the last two months. The top month was May, when ocean-going vessels consumed 1.2 mn tons. In total, 13,067,115 tons of fuel oil, 267,651 tons of gas oil, 102,928 tonnes of diesel oil and 142,825 tons of lubricating oil were supplied to ships in 2007.”
