Night flights restricted at Frankfurt airport with new expansion

Frankfurt airport has agreed to limit the number of flights between 11 PM and 5AM, to reduce air traffic noise to the local residents. Lufthansa and DHL are both suing due to the use of the airport during that time period.

Lufthansa and DHL are suing the Frankfurt airport for restricting night flights.  Part of the expansion of Frankfurt airport, a third terminal and a new runway, they agreed to limit the number of flights to 17 between 11 PM and 5 AM.  This restriction limits the air traffic noise to local residents.

Having restrictions will have a large affect on the Cargo operations of these carriers who operate many flights in the evening.
