Supply Chains are affected by weather

Severe weather in the mid-west halts LTL, parcel and passenger transportations throughout the Midwest.

The weather in the Midwest of the United States has affected shipments of fuel, food and other goods.  The weather has caused flood which have an effect on both the road and rail networks.  Union Pacific Corp, has six tracks which are out of service.  Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. is experiencing problems along their Mississippi River routes. The delays and shutdowns are planned to last a week. Passenger routes are also affected by the flooding. Amtrak is reporting service problems between Chicago to San Francisco and Seattle. Conway is reporting issue with regional service in Iowa. Both UPS and FedEx plan for operations to return to normal early this week.

The weather is also affecting the soy and corn crops. With fuel prices increasing the cost of food, will the damage to the crops also cause food the increase? Many supply chains have been interrupted if not halted due to the severe weather in the Midwest.
