UPS’s Asia air hub

UPS will move its Asia hub from Philippines to China

UPS is moving its Asia hub from the Philippines to Shenzhen, China to reduce transit times throughout the region. The new hub will be operational in 2010 and will cost $180 million. The relocation is expected to reduce transit time by 1 day within the region.

The new hub will be 1 million square feet and will be able to process 18,000 pieces per hour, compared to the current 7,500.  The hub can be expanded to handle 36,000 pieces per hour.
