Companies strategies are turning green.

Green supply chains are being incorporated in companies to reduce carbon emissions and improve their bottom line.

In today’s market, companies view going green as an essential part of their supply chain.  A reason why skeptics are changing their beliefs is the fact that they are getting a return on investment (ROI).  Another reason that the view is focusing on green supply chain is that many customers demand a reduced environmental impact; up to 75 percent of a company’s footprint comes from transportation and logistics.

In a recent study, about 67 percent of European companies believe that green issues are important to their strategy, compared to 3 percent that believe green is not important.  Popular initiatives planned or taken are improving energy efficiency, vehicle rerouting to reduce miles and strategic warehouse locations.
