Parcel and letter carriers reach peak days of 2007

United States postal service, FedEx, and UPS will handle the highest daily volume of the year this week. Their transportation networks are complex and have the capability of expanding and shrinking depending on the volume.

Today will be the busiest day of the year for the United States Postal Service which will process over 1 billion pieces of mail worldwide. FedEx is saying that today will also be their busiest day of the year, handling over 11 million packages. UPS says that Wednesday will be their peak day, handling over 22 million packages. 

The transportation networks of these carriers is complex and has the capability to grow with the increased demand during the holiday season and shrink with the lower demand during the summer and especially the week after Christmas.
