UK companies want to be green by utilizing technology

UK companies believe using technology can reduce their carbon footprint; however, few companies have targets to make improvements

UK companies believe that technology will be a significant part of them reducing their carbon footprint but do not have any clear sustainability policies for the IT department.  Research by Datamonitor for BT showed that 90 percent of companies believe that technology is a key to reducing their carbon emissions; however, only 41 percent have plans to make improvements.

Tim Smart, CEO of BT Global Services UK, said the finding suggested that firms "may be paying lip service" to the issue of sustainability.  Environmental sustainability needs to be a corporate institutive where every part of the business participates to improve their carbon emissions.
