DHL and Walgreens team up

Walgreens will have the capability to ship DHL packages at all of its locations this year.

DHL and Walgreens form a strategic alliance to allow DHL to have kiosks in Walgreens to ship packages via DHL. DHL is following UPS with the UPS Store and FedEx with Kinko’s. Walgreens will have 6,500 locations by the end of the year which will offer the DHL service. The service will be provided at the photo lab where an employee will be trained to ship packages.

DHL and Walgreens piloted this project in three locations and it was successful. DHL’s CEO Hans Hickler stated “We had [small businesses] telling us ‘we want to ship with you, but we don’t know where to drop the package off.’ There were OfficeMax’s and AMPC’s (Associated Mail and Parcel Centers), but they were not the equivalent of a FedEx Kinko’s or a UPS Store.”
