The green 2012 London Olympic Games

A Timber Supplier Panel will be appointed to ensure the traceability of the timber used for the Olympics. They want the timber’s supply chain to be as green as possible

London is looking to keep the 2012 Olympics as green as possible.  They are currently looking for suppliers of timber.  They formed a Timber Supplier Panel.  The article states that the timber used “must be fully traceable, legal and from sustainable sources - helping make London 2012 a truly green Games.”

The article stated that 600,000 square metres of hardwood, plywood and other timber products” will be sent “to the Olympic Park. Enough softwood timber to fill 16 50-metre swimming pools will also be supplied.”

The committee will be tracing the timber from the source through its complete supply chain to the Olympic Park.  They want to ensure the timber is provided legally and will minimize the impact on the environment.
