Dell is looking to purchase $23 billion of components from China in 2008 and $29 billion in 2009.  With the US facing a possible recession, Dell believes that by sourcing from China they will be able to reduce their costs.

According to chief executive Michael Dell, “China is critical to Dell's global supply chain.  China is one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing economies in the world, and we've made significant business and social investments here in the past 10 years."
