There is currently an overcapacity of cars produced in Europe. A new approach to make a car to order in 5 days is being tested through June 2008.

There is currently an overcapacity of cars in <place w:st="on" />Europe</place />.  Every year 22 million cars are produced and only 15 million are sold.  There is a push to change the ways cars are made to a custom made car which can be produced in 5 days.   According to project coordinator Rene Esser of ThyssenKrupp Automotive: “The only way to ensure the economic survival of organizations, establishments and employees in the European automotive industry is to escape, in the long run, the competitive pressure from cheap labor countries.
