Ford is looking to reduce the number of suppliers it uses by half. It hope to simplify their supply chain and make it more efficient.

Ford Motor Company is reducing the number of suppliers they currently use to improve the efficiency of their supply chain.  Ford spends on average $90 billion dollars a year with suppliers.  Currently they have over 2,500 suppliers and they want to have between 700 and 800.  Tony Brown, Ford's Senior Vice President of Global Purchasing stated “All of those things are focused on reducing complexity and improving efficiency and profitability in the supply chain." Ford hopes for “in return for larger volumes and a more stable stream of business .  . .
