Virgin Atlantic tested using biofuel on a flight yesterday. The Boeing 747 only had five people on board, no passengers.

Virgin Atlantic performed a test flight using biofuels from <city w:st="on" /><place w:st="on" />London</place /></city />’s Heathrow airport to Amsterdam Schiphol airport in a Boeing 747.  The fuel was made from babassu and coconut oil.  The flight did not contain any passengers; there were only five people on board.  The biofuel is mean to be more environmental friendly.  Virgin Atlantic, stated that they did not make any modifications to the plane.Sir Richard Branson, President of Virgin Atlantic, stated "Today marks a biofuel breakthrough for the whole airline industry.  Virgin Atlantic, and its partners, are proving that you can find an alternative to traditional jet fuel and fly a plane on new technology, such as sustainable biofuel.
