The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved action plans to replace and modernize the port trucking fleets, but environmentalist and Los Angeles port officials oppose the move.

In order to reduce air pollution at the <place w:st="on" /><placetype w:st="on" />Port</placetype /> of <placename w:st="on" />Long Beach</placename /></place /> by 80 percent, the commission has set up a series of actions to achieve the goal. First, all trucks used are required to meet clean truck, maintenance, security and health insurance requirements.
